The Summarize Group Discussion task is a part of the PTE Academic Speaking & Writing section. In this task, you need to listen carefully to a short discussion or conversation between multiple speakers and then provide a clear, concise written summary. In this task, you will listen to a discussion among three participants that lasts around three minutes. Once you have finished listening, you need to summarize the main points of the conversation in your own words within a 2-minute timeframe.

You place stress correctly on common words, and your sentence rhythm feels comfortable and natural overall.
3	Good	Most of your sounds are correct, but some repeated mistakes can make understanding a little harder at times. Certain consonants might be mispronounced, skipped, or changed depending on the word. Stress and reduced vowels may go wrong in a few places, but your meaning still comes through.
2	Intermediate	You make several pronunciation errors with vowels and consonants, which makes your accent stand out. Listeners can understand about two-thirds of what you say, but they may need extra time to adjust. Consonant clusters (like str in “street”) might be simplified or dropped, and stress on some words can feel uncertain.
1	Intrusive	A lot of your sounds are inaccurate, which gives you a heavy foreign accent. Around one-third of your speech is difficult to understand. Consonants are often distorted, left out, or replaced, and your speech rhythm doesn’t always match English patterns. Stress is frequently misplaced, and extra or missing syllables make it harder to follow.
0	Non-English	Your pronunciation is strongly influenced by another language. Many vowels and consonants are incorrect, missing, or rearranged, and more than half of what you say is unclear to listeners.

2	Intermediate	Your speech flow is somewhat uneven, with occasional choppiness. In longer sentences, you manage at least one smooth phrase, but hesitations, false starts, or repetitions happen two to three times. One long pause might appear, though not more than that.
1	Limited	Your speech often feels stop–start, as if delivered word by word or syllable by syllable. Multiple hesitations, pauses, and false starts make it harder to follow. Longer sentences may include one or two long pauses, and word stress may not sound natural.
0	Disfluent	Speaking feels slow and effortful. Pauses and hesitations are frequent, with many false starts and unnatural sound patterns. Words often come out separately instead of flowing together, and long pauses disrupt the overall delivery.
